THE ROCKY POINT TIMES LIES!
|
Be Careful, Be Very Careful!
|
Has anyone read the June, 2009 issue of Rocky Point Times? I am in disbelief over the editorial written
by the owner/editor Tom O’Hare. The last paragraph of the editorial states;
“My final thought… It is best not to believe all that you hear and only about
half of what you see. Don’t believe all the garbage out there on the Internet.
Remember that anyone with a website can publish any anonymous gossip
they wish. If you want to know the truth, just call our office. If we don’t know
the answer, we will find it. That’s another thing that I’Ive said for seventeen
years, and 27 years it still holds true to this very day.”
It is obvious this editor lives in Margaritaville….. Rocky Point Times is the very paper that published an
article written by a local attorney who stated the North Beach Development has a golf course, sewer,
streets, lighting and water! All of which the editor knew were lies and yet, decided to publish the
article…….. And he touts truth? Take the lies out of this paper and everything could be printed on one
page; and half of that would be the editor bragging about his next margarita or his Hummer.
Obviously this website and blog is very disturbing to some because it tells the truth about fraudulent
developments in Puerto Penasco. True, anyone with a web site can publish gossip and rumors, but I
have never seen a better job of educating the public with facts regarding the hazards of investing in
foreign property (particularly Rocky Point) than this website. We know as fact that the Rocky Point
Times does not publish or respond to questions that cannot be answered truthfully. A vacationer who
reads the paper once or twice might be fooled however; anyone who knows what is going on in Rocky
Point can’t be fooled.
Take for instance the featured restaurant this month ------“The Point” Many people may not be aware
that the owners, German and Estela Palacio did not have a car, or gas money that would make it to San
Diego in July of 2001. Yet eight years later they have a remodeled, refurbished home in Penasco –
surrounded by a fortress for their protection, a home in Tucson, commercial buildings in Rocky Point ,
drive “Lincoln” automobiles and have a restaurant “on the water.” Where did the money come from?
……Could it be drug money, or possibly that the money was stolen from every investor in North Beach
while they were managing sales for the North Beach development? Maybe the Rocky Point Times could
investigate and explain that in their next editorial.
Then again maybe they should publish the fact that three people were murdered in Penasco a few
weeks ago while sitting at a stop light, or that long time realtors in Rocky Point are currently being sued
because of fraud and/or marketing Mexican property for sale in the U.S. These truths could be printed:
but never, ever in the Rocky Point Times. By the way, the “editor” might want to leave a little room in his
July issue of the Rocky Point Times to comment about how several defunct properties in Rocky Point,
(including Villa Cortez), were put up for auction in Phoenix on June 4th, 2009; but there were no takers.
I would think the thousands of investors who lost money in Mexican real estate ventures would be more
appreciative of a web site like this, or a newspaper that tells of real experiences by people that have lost
fortunes in fraudulent real estate in Rocky Point - rather than aimless gossip - as published by the Rocky
Point Times. Who gives a damn where you drive your Hummer? After all, intelligent people would drive a
vehicle that is more fuel efficient!
Sick of Rocky Point Lies
Really? In the December. 2007 issue of Rocky Point Times, an article appeared titled “Safe investments
organization of real estate agents in Puerto Penasco. References were made regarding North Beach.
His claim was that” investors are not losing their money; there are delays in getting title”. That statement
was challenged in a letter to the Rocky Point Times indicating that since 1999, investors have not
received refunds, title or trusts to purchased properties in North Beach. Clearly, that money is lost. Other
claims in his article were addressed in the rebuttal letter as well, however the letter was never published
in the Rocky Point Times.
In the January, 2008 issue of Rocky Point Times, an unsigned article appeared titled “Facts about North
Beach”. The article referenced projects allegedly completed in North Beach that were lies. Specifically,
“Some readers may be aware that a golf course designed by Fazio was built
during this period as were streets, lagoons, a water desalinization plant, and
a water treatment plant. The full electrification of the property was also
accomplished during these difficult years.”
To date, there is no golf course; no streets, no lagoons, no power to partially constructed buildings and
no street lights, and the desalinization and water treatment plant have ever been completed.
A call was made to Rocky Point Times to determine who authored the article and they refused to
disclose that information. It was later determined that the article was written by Mr. Raul O’Farrill, a
Mexican attorney and advertiser in Rocky Point Times. A rebuttal article was submitted to the Rocky
Point Times to set the record straight. Additionally, several North Beach investors wrote letters to the
editor as well. Receipt of the letters was acknowledged by the editor. The article and letters were never
published.
On January 25, a meeting was held with Sandy O’Hare, co-publisher of Rocky Point Times - regarding
the rebuttal for the article “Facts about North Beach”. It was indicated that the response would not be
printed as provided, but in a “revised” form. The "revised" response was never published.
It is clear the Editor/Publisher of Rocky Point Times will not report or publish factual or accurate
information about real estate issues in Rocky Point.

Since our challenge in July, 2009 to the Rocky Point Times to refute any statements on this website, we have heard nothing from the editor, Mr. Tom O'Hare. Administrator - February, 2010

Looks like Mr. O'Hare might be enjoying too many margaritas while watching football. According to his editorial in the January, 2010 issue of Rocky Point Times, he states:
"I was watching an NFL football game last Sunday and started thinking that, for the cost of a family of four to attend a professional football or basketball game, that same family could spend a week in Rocky Point with no traffic jams, car jacking, armed robberies etc." Is he kidding?
Mr. O'Hare, perhaps you might want to check out the page "The Road to Hell" before making ridiculous claims like that.
He also decries the fact that his newspaper is down to 51 pages from a high of 120 pages . Here's another suggestion, Mr. O'Hare:
How about publishing the many, many letters from buyers and investors who have written to Rocky Point Times asking you to correct erroneous statements published by your paper, or report about the fraud and criminal activity going on in Puerto Penasco. That most certainly would bring your "plop factor" * up dramatically.
* Plop factor: That's the plopping noise your massive newspaper makes when it hits your driveway every morning.
